Motivation

We only get into trouble when our motivations are wrong.  We may recieve wrongful judgements from people who don't know us or who are just cruel, or people just refuse to believe us when we truly are innocent. The Lord says that we should rejoice in that sort of behavior.

But when we choose things that have ulterior motives, or use slight of hand to manipulate people or situations to our favor, is when trouble starts brewing.  If we don't come clean with our misguided thinking, then people will start to look at us through the corner of their eyes in suspiscion.  This is the change in our relationships with others, the collapse of innocence for both parties.

Self-help groups like Celebrate Recovery & Life's Healing Choices show us that this is a travesty for living free in the spirit of God, because we always have something to hide....as small as it may be.
