Not My Fault

If we're not careful, we can fall into a blame game of; you're the reason I am the way I am.  If you've been abused then this is understandable.  But one thing always remains; we are who we are because of the choices we make.  Healing the transgressions of our past is the most difficult thing we must do in life.  We can see the trouble others get in and talk about the damage they do because of their choices, but it's a bit of a different story when we are the one in the public eye who's the talk of the town, or "today's hot topic".

It's not the end of the world when we are "today's topic".  It's just a bit embarrassing that's all.  It really is simply a learning curve we all must go through.  Don't you envy people who can bare their sole, laugh about their own foibles, and publicly admit their mistakes?  They just don't seem impacted by everyone knowing what they did, why, and when!  True visibility means you are open, honest, true to others & yourself, but most importantly, true to God. 

Self-help groups like "Life's Healing Choices" and "Celebrate Recovery" help us to become that open by providing a safe place to do that.
