Rewarding Yourself

When you have made it a point to change your life and your tired of giving in to negative behaviors.  So when you have been free from compulsive or addictive behaviors for a day, week, month, year, etc.  You need to think of different ways to celebrate those milestones with small but meaningful rewards.  Caution here: but saying to yourself well "I've been really good so I think I can do this in moderation now, because I proved I CAN quit"  Very slippery slope, chase those words right out of your mind!!  That is just a trigger.

Groups like Celebrate Recovery & Life's Healing Choices help us to see the triggers that lure us back into a very bad place.  Giving in to our addictions & compulsive behaviors is called relapse.  All that does is rob us of the very reason for us to celebrate our achievements.
