The dictionary says: "submit unwillingly". This in itself isn't such a problem as we have to do this on a regular basis, as does everyone. Another definition is "to carry ill will". This is where the addiction part of life rules. The Bible says if we allow one sin to run free in our lifestyle, then much worse is to follow.
Unresolved feelings will drag you down to a place where anything the Bible says about "just treatment" gets ignored. A lower level of religion in it's finest supports rule breaking, lying, gossip, treachery, and a muriad of other forms of malice. In Jesus' case it was the Pharasees who premeditated His murder.
The root of all this is pride, because if we had no pride then none of this would matter and life would carry on unruffled. The bigger problem is we can fall into this same behavior because we choose to ignorantly sympathize with the perpetrator rather than study the Word of God to find the answer!!
Self-help groups like Celebrate Recovery & Life's Healing Choices show us what avenues our debaucherous thinking takes us, to get us started and then locked into our addictions.
