You Are Where You Are

Ever wonder why you are in situations you are in? Places of calm, distress, great loss, abundance, or indifference!  First off, it's how we view our situation!  Our mindset puts us in places where we may be opposite to where we really are. If we can't find any joy in the situation we are in, then our ideals may be off kilter with reality.  This leads us to make unrealistic choices based on our unrealistic beliefs. It's when we choose to do things that are complete opposite to the norm, simply because we believe it to be so.  We are where we are because we have a predesigned scenario in our head regardless of others feelings.  Or maybe God is using us to teach others, or more importantly, others to teach ourself.

Celebrate Recovery and Life's Healing Choices help us to see what reality is by giving us the tools to tap into others and our own feelings.

Told You So

Those are usually the only nice words we receive after we have screwed up supremely in life.  We've let someone down, damaged reputations, caused strife, or physically or emotionally hurt someone. For the most part they are right so I guess there is really no nice way to eat crow but to just start chewing after it is shoved in our face.  Eating crow is to have our actions or words come back at us in a most negative way.  Things we've said or done wrong.

How come we never say "thank you for bringing my bad actions to my attention"?  Isn't it that simple? Yes we can apologize, but more importantly to say "thanks, I'll have to change my ways moving forward".

Self Help groups like Celebrate Recovery & Life's Healing Choices help us to realize what to say in embarrassing situations that we have created.

Realism

Ever wonder if you are real?  Not physically, but rather without any false reason, acting, or caution.  I'm referring to speaking with people without giving up the truth, telling them what they want to hear, or saying what we want them to hear.

Certainly there are times when we need to express caution with some people as they can run wild with information and distort it miserably.  But would that really matter if we lived in total realism with everyone.  Yes there are times when we make mistakes and do stupid things, that is the fodder of rumor mills.  Aha, but not if we confess and say, "I messed up and did . . .this...silly me".  Then what would the rumor mills have to say but the boring truth?

I guess we need to be completely real with ourself first!!

Groups like Celebrate Recovery and Life's Healing Choices help us to see what REAL really is.

You are Soooo. . . different

What makes us different from each other?  Why do you do the things you do, good or bad?  Why do I find fault in that?  Why do you object to me and my ways?

Well . . . we are taught most of these things from an early age before we can remember.  Some of them come from our upbringing in adolescence.  Some ideas are absorbed because we are adolescent-like in our adult life.  We even learn valuable life lessons in our senior years.

I guess if we are taught the ways of God from beginning to end, then we have a head start, don't we?

Courses like Life Healing Choices & Celebrate Recovery walk us through the life courses that God gives us, only catch is that you must attend and be interested to learn it!

Playing catch up

Life changes and we must get with the times. Trends come and go and we follow suit.  Old good actions change because of current trends. We are told that respectable ways of life are now wrong.  Then we are told that deplorable ways are the right thing to do. Its confusing especially when you don't know whats right to begin with, or for that matter what's right for this day and age.

Even our habits change usually for the worst.  But what doesn't change is our own attitude towards personal habits. If we don't think about changing then we will stay the same, gradually get worse in our thought patterns.  If we do change our habits then we are free from the bondage that kept us.  But we have to make sure that we are not just changing to suit today's twisted ideals, but rather be close to what God wants instead.  Celebrate Recovery & Life's Healing Choices help us to see what God really wants from us.

Who Are You?

When we are unknown, or unwanted, or unsure!  People won't take the time to know us, or people who do know us but now don't want to, are a large portion of our distraught feelings.  This of course fuels how we feel about ourselves in a negative way.  So we act out to get attention or we reward ourselves with bad habits for being who we are at this point in time.  If we can't have good company then we can create our own version of what company would represent.  Nuisance behavior can be a friend when no one else cares.  Illicit affairs, pornography, substance abuse, or destructive behavior can somewhat fill the hole in our lives.  At this point we need to step back and look at who we are becoming.

Who we are in God's eyes is the innocent lonely child inside looking for the arms to embrace us and say, "it's all going to be ok".  Little do we know that God keep trying to do that but we are always looking in all the wrong places.  Celebrate Recovery and Life's Healing Choices help us to see that.

Trust v/s Skepticism

There's a point when you have finally had enough of trying to hold your entire life together, when it's ripping at the seams, when your disgusted with yourself, when you wish you could just be the real you.  Facades are a lot of work, but so is releasing all of the lifestyle you had to fight to build.  When you are ready to decide that it's time to stop what your doing, something else happens.  Skepticism!! You held your life together for as long as you did and you did it your way and it was working, at least until you crashed.  Why would releasing all of that to your Lord be any better than what you did all on your own?

All we really have to do to answer that is to look at Jesus on the cross and try to figure out why He did that for us!  Once we start to understand the reason behind that then the skepticism will start to fade.  Trust v/s skepticism.
