Two Kinds of Wisdom

We each like to think we are wise, but our actions label us whether we like it or not.  How we speak, react, and especially the next step we take in the midst of trouble.  Some are relaxed and content with their life state and can easily handle the ups and downs of life.  Others carry deep envy, unresolved strife, chaotic perspectives, and cannot forgive.

The second kind of wisdom says that no matter what life has for us, we are content with the outcome, because we give it all to Jesus Christ for Him to sort out for us.  Praise God for the blessings, and ask Him for peace to deal with the not-so-desirable aspects.  More importantly, what can we learn from this?
James 3:17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Focusing on all those positives doesn't give you much time to deal with the negatives, because if you give them to Jesus, then there's not too much to worry about.

Fighting

Ever find yourself in the middle of a battle you didn't start?  Minding your own business and living a life according to the ways of Christ, suddenly you are in the midst of a controversy and you have no idea how it started.  That is the way of the enemy, silent sneak attacks, skullduggery at it's best.

2 Corinthians 10:3 "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does."

The thing to remember is that this is an attack against God. because we are living at peace with God angers the enemy.  The Bible instructs us to keep the peace, stand firm, keep your focus on God, and He will make it right.

But when you have a compulsive or addictive behavior it's even more difficult, but the principal is exactly the same. Stay calm and rest in the Lord to correct all things.  When you take matters into your own hands then you start playing satan's game, and then he wins.

Control

There's lots of elements to control.  Controlling others, being controlled, being out of control, allowing others to control us, and interestingly, controlling others by accident.  May seem strange but when we are ignorant to our own behaviors, we can actually be controlling others with out knowing it.  Not knowing life skills or unresolved childhood issues can open us up to a wide variety of obnoxious behaviours.  We think we are in control, but in all actuality we are overbearing, insensitive, pushy, and short sighted.  When we realize this, it is never too late to admit our mistakes.

1 Peter 3:16 "keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander."

A relationship with Jesus Christ opens our eyes and gives us a view from the people we have controlled by accident.

Acceptance

What do we do in order to feel accepted?  First off, what is acceptance and why do we need it?  It's when someone gives you the same level of respect they would give to anyone else, no matter what you have done, your station in life, or what you look like.  It's a show of respect to treat others as you would like to be treated.

Coincidentally, that is what the Bible teaches in Luke 6:31 Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

When you don't treat others as you would like to be treated, then you are judging them and God says that you will be judged in the same way you treat others.  It's mostly because we don't understand that persons way of thinking and our arrogance or uncaring spirit is preventing us from NOT forcing them to our way of thinking.

Harbinger

Is a person who runs ahead of the crowd to be the first person to announce the coming of something.  They were required to recite only the facts and not put emotion or bias into it. Ancient version of the media.  People pronounce it har binger, but it's har bin jer.

It's hard not to show bias especially when you are passionate about something.  And, if our mindset is damaged by unresolved emotions or hurt, then the message we portray comes out with a negative slant.  The closer the information comes to our point of pain, then the caustic side comes out more. We should be bringing good news but it's tainted with our dark emotions.

1 John 4:6 ....This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

The most difficult aspect, is recognizing those dark emotions and negative biases in ourself.

Easy Way Out

As water runs downhill filling the holes and low spots, so does the carnal human spirit.  We fall victim to carnal emotions, habits, and beliefs.  It takes great effort to rise above mediocrity, to try to make yourself better, but sometimes we are unaware of the option to do that, so we stay in the filth and mire that life has dealt us.  All the while believing that is our lot in life.

Other times, the better you try to make yourself, the more the enemy tries to quash you, to keep you from being a positive example to others.  The easy way out is avoiding that affliction and turning back to the evil that you tried to leave.

Job 36:20 Beware of turning to evil, which you seem to prefer to affliction.

The older you get, the more you realize that you could have done it!!

Laws of God

A lot of people hate or mock the 10 Commandments in the Bible, because it forces them to give up some of their fun.  They don't realize what they represent.  If there were no commandments then no one would know they are doing wrong.  If you were screwing up royally and about to get in trouble, would you appreciate someone telling you that you were making a mistake, so you could correct your error?  But...people don't like to hear they are wrong, but they do like it when you join them and give up your morals.

Job 34:32 "Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I will not do so again."

Addictive and compulsive behaviors have another layer to that, we need peoples acceptance more than  following God's word, and that's where the disconnect is.  We try to repair the damage with substances and misdeeds instead of seeing the real problem.
